This Blog is written now that I have stopped smiling at this most wonderful of all smiles, April 2, 2021
This baby is unknown to me. He or she with this infectious smile was posted on Facebook a few days ago and I was captivated by the innocence and beauty of its smile. Perhaps this child was dreaming or, as my brother-in-law proclaimed: "It's that warm feeling when the diaper is full."
In Canada, almost all of us are arranging our Covid-19 vaccinations. There are some who don't believe in the science that has all but eliminated dreadful diseases like Tetanus, Polio, Smallpox, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B and A, Rubella, Measles, Whooping Cough and Chickenpox. For this child's sake I hope the parents are believers.
Around the world we have had 130million cases with 73million recovered and 2.83million deaths due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It has taken 15 months to establish these tragic numbers. Furthermore, the scientists and pharmaceutical firms have developed and tested a vaccine in a record 12 months. Many of us have already received the jab and will have had the second jab in three months time. Almost everyone feels that we are rounding the corner and looking forward to the end of the Protocols that included separation, isolation and masking which has been a part of all our lives for a long time. Some of us have been working from home if their employment was possible such as my two sons. Others less fortunate were furloughed or given layoff notice until their employment situation improved. In Canada almost everyone could apply for and have received CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit). Billions of dollars have flown out of our treasury to keep the economy afloat. It's the same the world over for the lucky ones. The less fortunate continue to be disadvantaged, deprived and depressed.
As humans we are blessed with the birth of a child. That child is 100% reliant on others to be fed, clothed, and nurtured. This baby is quite content with its time and place. In about twenty or more years he or she may become a parent of a child, perhaps an adult's main purpose in life. To love your husband or wife and have children raised with love and caring is a large responsibility not to be taken sparingly. This is more important than any vocation or lifestyle if one chooses to have children. A fine balance is a prerequisite.
