Summer and Ryder Cup Golf 2025

In Canada we enjoy four seasons with various activities during rain, wind, sun and snow bringing joy and fulfilment to both young and old. This summer was a little different. On several weekends the temperature rose above 90C (194F) with commensurate humidity. If one spent those days sailing on a lake or sitting under a shade tree with a cooling breeze this is Utopia. However, I was on the golf course with power cart arriving at my ball to take the shot and then race to our shade trees while my playing partner hit his shot. We did this all afternoon long and managed to complete 18 holes undeterred by the heat. I write this data because our norms for this time of year are around 75 to 80C.
It's September 29 in Port Credit where our continuing weather is sunshine with a 25C temperature, very little humidity and it's been like this all month. I had a shot at shooting my age this summer. At my Brampton Golf Club playing with two young men I told them that I needed a par to finish at a score of 84 (the magic number). Jack and Eugene were on the green in two and I was on it in 3 with a six foot straight putt for par when they both said, "we'll give it to you (a gimme) if you wish? If I had been two feet out I would have accepted their offer but I couldn't for a six. I carefully lined up this six footer and put a solid stroke on my ball that went straight toward the flag and tailed off to the left. I missed! Curses! There's still time this year to hit this milestone, and plenty more next year when I'll need only 85 to shoot my age.

2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York State

This contest looked like the Europeans with McIlroy, Lowry, Fleetwood and nine others were going to destroy the twelve Americans when they came out shooting lights out on Friday and Saturday to take a significant lead needing only a couple of wins in the twelve singles matches on Sunday to maintain the Cup. The end came suddenly when Scott Henley of the USA missed a six footer and Lowry holed a four footer to clinch the 14 and a 1/2 points for the Europeans.

Is this torture or glee on Lowry's face right after clinching the Ryder Cup for Europe with his 4 footer?

I'll be on the golf course three days this coming week and three of the following week until we'll pack up and leave for our Barcelona to Lisbon cruise on Azamara and then more vacation time in Spain and Portugal that will conclude in mid November when we'll head back to Port Credit.
There's more to come in two weeks time dear readers. But before we go here is a great swing by Tommy Fleetwood of the U.K:
