February 23, 2026 Exercise Season Begins.
https://youtu.be/ntDLjoJMHk8 During the last week I have clicked on this YouTube link daily and worked on exercises called 'Chair Exercise for Seniors.' The required time to completion is about 15 minutes and involve one's arms, legs, back, chest and especially our core muscles in the stomach area. I'd recommend it to any senior person.
On Monday February 23, 2026 we started a complimentary program provided by Carmen Corbasson Community Centre Fitness and Adult Program Winter 2026 on Cawthra Rd.
We checked in for the first time and found there were additional costs associated with the use of the Therapeutic Pool. [I should have applied a world-wide theory that states "when it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."] There is a reasonable fee to use the pool with an instructor to get the most benefit possible. On my way out we purchased five one hour sessions twice this week and three for next week to get a feel for the potential benefits that might accrue.
👅
On February 25 at 14:00 I'm in the Therapeutic Pool with an Instructor whose name is Meghan as well as 12 others (ten women, two men) who are also looking for an easy way to improved mobility and fitness just like me. I'm guessing this group's average age is 70.
My first observation is one of excellence and co-ordination of this facility: the parking close to the entrance, inside the efficient registration, singular-private changing rooms, numerous large and half-sized lockers equipped to use one's own lock, pre-warm soap showers, exact arrival times, and finally to an introduction to the class by Meghan that began exactly on time.
In a water temperature of 93F degrees my body feels as if it has lost half its weight. During this one hour session Meghan is on the pool deck demonstrating the moves we make in the water. She is lithe, slim and happy as she works continuously encouraging her patrons to perform at their ability. She is fun to work with as we plow through the warm water with legs, arms, twisting and turning our bodies balanced as best we can.
After 20 minutes I feel the effects and start watching the clock. Yes, I considered stalling a little. But I didn't, as I glanced at the singular clock on the wall several times before Meghan wrapped up her session and gave her appreciation to us for a job well done. There are two entrances to enter or exit the Therapeutic Pool. One is a ten yard long slope, and the other is a three step ladder leading to metal grip bars.
I went to the step ladder and couldn't make my body lift itself to the first step, so I laughed and walked to the slope and up and out into the mutual showers and then the locker and finally the private change rooms. This facility has an 8 second spinner to dry my swim suit! How about that?
This is a great place and an experience that I plan to visit three times a week. Terryl wants to do the same but not in the pool. She is a walker and the track is right there for her at no cost.
👏
My second visit to the Therapeutic Pool two days later left me with the certainty that this exercise will be a positive move for my fitness and well being. I didn't look at the time clock once. The hour moved along without issue for the 18 senior members. Terryl was upstairs on the walking track for an hour where she easily completed two miles. And I walked out of the pool and turned left, instead of straight out to a shower and my locker. After ten minutes I spoke to a lady saying "I think I'm in trouble, I can't find my locker." And she said, "I believe you are on the other side because I saw you there earlier." She was right and twenty minutes later I was on my way with Terryl and out the front door.
I am feeling the benefits of this activity in the pool including a weight loss I've wanted for years. In addition I have one alcoholic drink per day instead of two that Dr. Wahba asked me to consume two years ago. My current weight is 206 down from a normal 214 to 218.

The weekend of February 28 and March 1 we were invited to join Dan and Ellen McDonald, and Ellen's daughter Shelley and grand daughter Jessica at a celebration of Ellen's birthday in the familiar surrounds of Snug Harbour's port side restaurant. We had lots to talk about and closed with dessert and Prosecco at our condo.

After a wunderfoll [an old english word] weekend at home, another week begins. One that will include three trips to the Therapeutic pool, a Cheese fondue at Ray and Christians home, Blake's birthday and an evening at Shore with Jack and Yvonne Garson listening to Jack's friends while we eat.
But first, another past weekend where the USA under Donald Trump's sole authority, with Israel's support and participation, bombed Iran. Within 15 hours Trump--using his Truth Social medium--told the world his aerial attack on many Iranian targets had killed Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. On Monday morning the Washington Post's 1,000 person survey stated: 22% Support strongly, 17% Support somewhat, 9% Unsure, 13% Oppose somewhat, 39% Oppose strongly. These Americans oppose Trump by 52 percent to 39 percent with 9 percent unsure.
Venezuela was bad enough two months ago, but I believe this Iran war will be considerably worse. Once again Trump did not put his intentions before Congress, disregarding their precious Constitution and the wisdom and ruling of their Supreme Court Justice.
💀
Yesterday the Fondue at Ray and Christian's home was wunderfoll; and today begins with the news, breakfast of two boiled eggs and a Portuguese tart, pay a few bills, pick up my three month's meds and hit the Terapeutic pool for the third time.
But duly noted, I couldn't re-find my locker on visit one, and couldn't work the combination that required a technician to cut the lock off on visit two. For visit three today, we have a new key-working lock that should prove faultless on this bright day forecasted to 6C, and up to 15C in three more days.
Laura was here yesterday and our home is spotless one more time. Terryl is hanging with Elizabeth and will introduce her to our walking track at 14:00 while I--independently of them--will slide into the pool for visit four.
All today's activity in the Therapeutic pool went as planned. The new key&lock worked, found my locker, enjoyed the workout and thought I may have lost a pound or two but, not so, we are still 206 lbs (93.44kg).
I will make the decision to join the CC Community Centre on March 11 because what I currently have is a ('Try it to See if you Like it') Membership. Terryl has a free membership (for over 65's) that includes her walking track because that's all she chooses to use; while I want a warm pool and exercise program with a live coach.

It's March 6 with our wintry conditions waning; I'm itching to participate in Springtime activities with an exercise plan in progress, I expect to be more than ready when the weather allows Opening Day at Brampton GC.

I have concluded that the Therapeutic Pool and the exercises it encourages is needed. I'll purchase a membership to have two visits per week for at least two months or more.
I'm seeing a Cardiologist on March 19 as suggested by Dr, Wahba and we'll have a discussion about my fitness and capabilities for one of my lifelong pursuits: sports.
On March 7 our temperature will reach 15F melting tons of snow unmoved by shovels or snow ploughs during the last significant snow storm.
We'll have dinner tonight at Shore restaurant with Yvonne and Jack Garson watching and listening to a friend of theirs perform tonight.
💩
Shore's entertainment area and bar room is separate to the dining room where Mike and his threesome belted out their 70's, 80's and 90's tunes.
Our room was more than full; extra bodies had squeezed into the aisles blocking the view of the stage. Terryl, Carmen and my back faced the stage because we gave the seats looking toward the stage to Jack, Yvonne and Andrew. However, I got this shot of Mike and his guitar when he bumped Terryl from her chair and wailed away in song.

On Sunday Terryl and I enjoyed a luncheon with Dennis Oliver and Suzanne LaFerrier at another Port Credit diner call BBB on Lakeshore Rd east of Hurontario, and the rest of the day at home. On Monday I'm back in the Therapeutic Pool and Terryl is doing miles on the track. Tuesday I'm at the SIM at Brampton GC and Terryl shops in Oakville and dines in Burlington with Elizabeth Bernard.
I'm supposed to be in the pool on Wednesday; Terryl should be on the track, but what the hell, let's take a day off and do some reading, writing and cooking just for fun. Maybe watch a little tennis from Indian Wells, California.
This Tennis event has a great reputation in the desert sun, moreover 2026 was one of the best. The top seed Carlos Alvaraz, #2 Jannick Sinner, #3 Novak Djokovic reached the semi-finals as well as a former #1 Daniil Medvedev. The tennis was fantastic, where over 500,000 people purchased entry tickets from March 8 to completion on March 15. I had recorded all of the main events including Medvedev's upset win over Alvaraz, Sinner's takedown over the aging Djokovic, and the final event between Medvedev and Sinner where the score for two sets was tied at 6 to 6. Both players had set points on their racquets during their match, but it was Sinner who got the final set point in the first set and match point in the final set.
Jannick Sinner is a young Italian player who, along with Carlos Alvaraz from Spain are winning just about everything in the Professional Men's Tennis Tournaments these days. They are accomplished and generous in their praise of their competitors on and off the courts.

We, that is Terryl and me are considering a device to be used when walking greater distances; such as excursions off an ocean cruise ship or a river cruise vessel that is primarily a visit to the popular downtown sites of significant European cities.

If we wish to do these tours it appears that I may need assistance to enjoy the experience. Here's but one of many available devices:
